Hike around Lake Wolfgang
Starts from the Parish Church in St. Wolfgang or various other places around the lake. Difficulty: fairly easy. Duration: 6hours. It’s Signposted en route. Distance: 19km on tarmac, 8km on gravel, Refreshments: plenty of opportunities to stop along the way.
The Zwölferhorn panorama tour and Illingeralm chalet tour
This tour starts at the lower terminal of the Zwölferhorn cable car. You can take the boat from the White Horse Inn across the lake to reach St. Gilgen. Difficulty: circular path – easy; alternative – medium. Duration: panorama circular path: 1h 15min; Illingeralm Chalet alternative: 2h 15min. Distance: 6km, panorama walk on wide gravel path; if you choose the Illingeralm alternative: mostly alpine trample path, which is slippery when wet, so do bring your hiking boots.
From Strobl to Zinkenbach
An easy circular tour on fairly flat terrain. Set out along the south shore of the Wolfgang lak to the Zinkenbach River and then on a wooded path past the Mahdhäusl Inn and back to Strobl. Start from the church in Strobl which you can reach by ferry from St. Wolfgang. Distance: 15km/ 9.3miles. Difficulty level: easy for hikers and joggers. Duration: 4 hours. Marked Path: Lakeside route No. 12 up to the Zinkenbach, then south on No. 15 Aberseeweg to the Mahdhäusl Inn and then on No. 10 Bahndammweg back to Strobl. Refreshments available on the road: after 4.5km in the Gschwendt Weidinger Stuben Restaurant and the Linderhof Inn; after 11km at the Mahdhäusl Inn; after 15km various Inns at the final destination of Strobl.
