September hosts one of the most demanding sports events for truly athletic aficionados: the Wolfgangsee Challenge, Austria’s hardest cross triathlon, which takes place in the stunning scenery in and around Lake Wolfgang.

Austria’s hardest cross triathlon:
- First up are:
1.5 km swimming in the clear waters of Lake Wolfgang - Followed by:
45 km mountain biking to the top of the Zwoelferhorn and around the Breitenberg summit with an altitude difference of 1550 metres. - Followed by:
15 kilometres of cross running: 7.5 km circuits which have to be done twice: with an altitude difference of 150 metres.
The different competitions:
6th Wolfgangsee Challenge from September 12th – 13th 2009
- Single and relay score, as well as a Xterra Austrian Cross Cup valuation.
- The Salzburg County Championship in Cross Triathlon will be also evaluated during the 6th Wolfgangsee Challenge at Lake Wolfgang in Austria.
- The 3rd XS-X-Challenge with the distances of 300 metres swimming, 13 km biking and 3 km running offers a chance to get a taste for partaking in this type of triathlon competition, though do bear in mind that even for the XS-X-Challenge you have to be pretty well in shape.
- A kids challenge for small triathlon fans will also take place at Lake Wolfang for the first time.
