It's always a major honour when the stars of the culinary firmament pay a visit to the Hotel In Weissen Rössl to sample our exquisite food.

That's what happened in July 2017, when the team of chefs from Salzburg restaurant Ikarus in Hangar-7 dined at the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl in St. Wolfgang.

When stars from the culinary firmament turn up to dine at the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl, the kitchen is really put to the test. Yet the praise and enthusiasm from Daniel Boulud and his companions soon showed that the exquisite food served up by Hermann Poll, master chef at the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl, and his team more than met the exacting demands of gourmet palates.;X1006 ;

Ikarus, the restaurant at Hangar-7

2003 saw the advent of a new gastronomic concept in Salzburg, with the creation of a top-flight gourmet restaurant in Hangar-7, set amid historic planes and Formula 1 racing cars. Most thrilling of all, every month the patron Eckart Witzigmann and the kitchen team led by Martin Klein invite a new culinary star to be the guest chef, delighting Salzburg's foodie scene with a specially created menu.

Star chef Daniel Boulud

In July 2017, New York-based star chef Daniel Boulud took the reins at Ikarus for a month. Born in France and trained in the culinary arts, the top restaurateur now runs almost 20 restaurants around the world. His New York flagship, Daniel, has two Michelin stars, putting it in the same league as the Ikarus restaurant at Hangar-7.

From New York to the Salzkammergut

While staying in the city of Mozart, the star chef also got to see some of the rest of Austria. On an excursion to Lake Wolfgang, Boulud's team stopped off at the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl. The chefs indulged in our restaurant's take on traditional Austrian cuisine – char, Schlutzkrapfen (stuffed pasta) and Salzburger Nockerl (sweet soufflés) – while enjoying the spectacular views of Lake Wolfgang.
