Another important event for running fans is the Postalm alpine marathon. This half marathon and quarter marathon as well as the relay and the fun children's race through blooming alpine meadows on Austria's largest alpine plateau attract a multitude of spectators and participants every year.

A further event, guaranteed to bring sports fans running, is the Lake Wolfgang Challenge, which is considered to be Austria's most difficult Xterra Cross Triathlon - only experienced athletes dare to tread here - it's not suitable for inexperienced athletes

There is a celebration at the end of the running festival. In the spirit of the Olympic creed: “It's the taking part that matters", every single one of the 3,000 participants is cheered and celebrated.

Walk the Lake - the "walk with a difference" by Lake Wolfgang

"Back to the Roots" is one of the new mottos of the Lake Wolfgang run in the Salzkammergut - together with "Walk the Lake". Just like the once very popular "Volkswandertag" communal walk, it doesn't matter how long you take to "Walk the Lake" at Lake Wolfgang. What counts is how far you have walked and how much fun you have had. There is even a finisher's medal as the icing on the cake. It's an absolute first, a race without racing, with its only goal being getting participants on the move.

Tip: The organiser encourages participants to make a point of stopping off at the inns or cafés along the route so that they can relax, enjoy nature and arrive relaxed at the finish line.
