Getting to St. Wolfgang… Austria at its finest
Thankfully, you no longer have to endure a long journey on horseback to St Wolfgang before you can start enjoying your well-earned holiday.
Nowadays, the trip to Lake Wolfgang is a straightforward and comfortable experience.
Whether you're coming by car, bus, train or plane, it's important to get here safely and well rested.

Getting here by GPS
Even navigation systems can sometimes make mistakes.
We recommend switching yours off when you enter the town and following the road signs from there, as GPS devices will often direct you down narrow country lanes and mountain roads.
Getting here by car
We hope you enjoy travelling here by car. Why not visit a sight or two on your way? Austria has myriad places of interest.
When you get to the Romantik hotel in St. Wolfgang, park in the hotel's own parking garage. There are also spaces for electric cars and the necessary charging facilities.
All roads lead to us
Travelling to Lake Wolfgang from the north or east
Exit the Austrian Westautobahn (A1) at Regau and then take the B 145 past Gmunden and along the banks of the Traunsee in the direction of Bad Ischl. When you get to Bad Ischl, follow the signs for Salzburg and St. Wolfgang on the B 158. This takes you through the Kaiserpark tunnel to Strobl, where you turn right for St. Wolfgang.
Travelling to the Salzkammergut holiday region from the south
When travelling in the direction of Bad Ischl on the B 145, you will cross the beautiful Pötschen Pass, which connects the Ausserland region and the Salzkammergut. On the way to St. Wolfgang, you will pass Bad Ischl and nefore continuing through the Kaiserpark tunnel on the B 158 towards St Wolfgang.
Travelling to the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl on Lake Wolfgang from the west
Leave the Austrian A1 motorway (Westautobahn) at the Thalgau exit and take the L 117 to Hof. When you get there, turn left at the roundabout onto the B 158 in the direction of Lake Wolfgang. You will pass the Fuschlsee before reaching St Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang. In Strobl turn towards St. Wolfgang.
When you reach St. Wolfgang, turn left into the road before the tunnel and straight ahead into the pedestrian zone – this is permitted for hotel guests.

If you're getting here by car, please be aware that you'll need to pay the Austrian road toll
Please note that toll stickers (vignettes) are compulsory on Austrian motorways. You can obtain this toll sticker from tobacconists and petrol stations near the border when you enter Austria.
Parking at the Rössl garage in St. Wolfgang
The town of St. Wolfgang on Lake Wolfgang has retained a unique village feel. To protect the historic town centre, the area around the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl has been pedestrianised.
On the day of your arrival, please drive straight to the hotel's front entrance on the market square in the centre of St. Wolfgang. The hotel team will be happy to assist you and show you the way to your parking space, either in the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl parking garage or in the Peterbräu parking garage (parking spaces allocated according to availability).
You can use the car park until 12 noon on your day of departure.
Hotel charging station for electric vehicles
You can also travel to St Wolfgang in an electric car, for an environmentally responsible journey.
When you arrive at the hotel, park your electric vehicle in the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl parking garage for convenient charging at the hotel's own e-charging station during your stay (€24.00 per night).
Getting to the Hotel im Weissen Rössl on Lake Wolfgang by train or bus

Then a train or bus can take you close to the Romantik Hotel im Weissen Rössl. St. Wolfgang has perfect connections for all modes of transport.
The nearest mainline train station is Salzburg main station, and the nearest regional train station is in Bad Ischl. The hotel offers an exclusive taxi shuttle service from there, so you arrive in St. Wolfgang nice and relaxed (Price on request).
There are also plenty of buses from Salzburg and Bad Ischl to the hotel.

Pick-up with the hotel taxi from Bad Ischl railway station, Salzburg Airport, Salzburg main station or Munich Airport (Price on request).
Getting here during the pre-Christmas season
Due to the Christmas market, access to the hotel may be partially restricted in the run-up to Christmas.
We recommend planning your journey so that you arrive before 1 pm,
as this will make it easier for you to get to the hotel through the Christmas market. Rooms and parking spaces are available from 3 pm on the day of your arrival, and until 12 pm on the day of your departure.
If you are likely to arrive after 1 pm, we recommend parking in the village, enjoying the Christmas market beside Lake Wolfgang, and then bringing your car to the hotel from 7.30 pm.
